As the main events of the “March for Gaza” are set for the afternoon, thousands had already gathered at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan and surrounding areas by the morning. People from across the country streamed in, many holding Palestinian flags, placards, and festoons. Among them, one figure drew special attention—a young man riding a horse through the streets near Dhaka University’s TSC, waving a Palestinian flag. His presence sparked spontaneous chants and solidarity marches around him.
Organized under the banner of “Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh,” the protest aims to raise global awareness against the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians. The program is scheduled to continue from 3 PM until just before Maghrib prayers at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan. Prominent figures, including Islamic scholar Dr. Mizanur Rahman Azhari, athletes, media personalities, and civil society representatives, have voiced their support for the cause.
Organizers expect participation in the hundreds of thousands and emphasize that the movement is about uniting the global community in support of innocent Palestinian lives. Security across Dhaka has been significantly tightened with a coordinated presence of military and law enforcement forces. Political leaders visited the venue on Friday, and organizers have issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure the success of the event.
