Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the Bangladesh United Sanatani Awakening Alliance, has been granted bail in a treason case following a ruling by the High Court on Wednesday, April 30. The bench comprising Justice Md. Atowar Rahman and Justice Md. Ali Reza declared the previous rule on his bail plea as absolute, marking the end of the final hearing on the matter.
Earlier, on January 2, the Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge rejected his bail plea, prompting Das to file an appeal with the High Court on January 12. On February 4, the court issued a rule asking the state to respond within two weeks regarding his bail. After a postponement on April 23 upon a state request for more time, the hearing resumed on April 30, culminating in today’s decision.
Chinmoy Krishna Das’s legal proceedings have drawn attention due to the sensitive nature of the charges.
