A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban against former Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, his wife Tahmida Begum, son Sheikh Labib Hannan, and daughter Sanjida Akter over allegations of corruption. The order came on Monday following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) before Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib. According to the ACC’s application, submitted by Deputy Director Tanzir Hasib Sarkar, the former Air Chief is under investigation for alleged abuse of power, embezzlement of state funds, bribery, manipulation in recruitment, and amassing wealth beyond known sources of income—some of which is suspected to have been laundered abroad. A dedicated probe team has been formed to conduct the inquiry. Reliable sources indicated that Hannan and his family may be planning to flee the country, prompting the ACC to request the court’s intervention to ensure a fair and uninterrupted investigation.
