The High Court is scheduled to announce its verdict today, Thursday (May 8), in the case concerning the deadly 2001 bomb attack at Ramna Batamul during Chhayanaut’s Bengali New Year celebration. The verdict will be delivered by a bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasreen Akter.

Previously, on June 23, 2014, a trial court sentenced eight individuals—including top leaders of the banned militant group Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJI), such as Mufti Abdul Hannan and Maulana Tajuddin—to death, while six others received life imprisonment. All convicted individuals later appealed to the High Court.
