The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered the submission of the investigation report by July 20 in a case related to the killing of over 200 people during the July-August movement in Uttara, Dhaka. On Monday (May 12), nine individuals, including former mayor Atiqul Islam, were presented before the tribunal. On the same day, four individuals—including former state minister for home affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku—were also produced in connection with the May 5, 2013, Hefazat rally at Shapla Chattar, Motijheel, where multiple killings occurred. The deadline for submitting the investigation report in that case has been set for August 12. Previously, the tribunal had ordered the accused to be sent to jail under charges of crimes against humanity. Arrest warrants remain active against five individuals—including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, and activist Imran H. Sarker—in connection with the Motijheel incident.
