These demands were made in a human chain in front of Fulbaria police headquarters in the capital on Saturday (August 10).

SI Tauhid, coordinator of dismissed policemen, said that during the tenure of the previous government, we were harassed and dismissed for various reasons. Someone got fired for making a Facebook post. Someone got fired for commenting on a post. Various people have been fired without cause.

He said that many members have been fired after alleging drug use. We have been discriminated against. We do not want this discrimination. We want to work as the people’s police. We were fired because we were working as people’s police. Tawhid, the coordinator of the fired policemen, also said, “We don’t want discrimination.” We want our jobs back. We want our clothes back. If not, we will go into severe agitation. Either we have to return our clothes or we have to buy poison. Meanwhile, when the human chaining program started after 1 pm, the newly appointed Inspector General (IGP) Moinul Islam called them to the police headquarters. After that, a delegation of 5 members of the protestors entered the police headquarters. At this time, the human chain was temporarily suspended and it was informed that the human chain will be suspended if the delegation gets a good message. Otherwise, the protestors said that the human chain will continue with a strict program.
