Strict Restrictions at Ijtema Ground, Section 144 Imposed

Section 144 has been imposed across a three-kilometer radius surrounding the Ijtema grounds in Tongi, Gazipur.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, December 18, by Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan, it was announced that the restriction would be in effect from 2 PM on December 8, 2024, until further notice. The order prohibits public entry into the Ijtema ground, and bans gatherings, processions, and the movement of two or more people in the area. Carrying weapons, knives, sticks, explosives, or any similar items is also forbidden, along with the use of loudspeakers or making loud noises.
Violators of the order will face legal action, as specified in the notice. Commissioner Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan confirmed that Section 144 was imposed for the metropolitan area.
