A Dhaka Metropolitan Court has issued a summons in a cheque dishonor case involving cricketer and former Member of Parliament Shakib Al Hasan, along with four others, in connection with a case filed by IFIC Bank. The summons was issued on Wednesday afternoon by Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mahbubul Haque at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
The other accused in the case, besides Shakib, are Gazi Sahgir Hossain, Imdadul Haque, and Maleka Begum. The court has instructed all the accused, including Shakib, to appear in court and has warned that arrest warrants may be issued for those failing to comply with the order.
The case, filed on December 15, involves a cheque dishonor for an amount of 41,457,000 Taka. In addition to this case, Shakib Al Hasan is also facing accusations in a murder case linked to the July coup, and he has been implicated despite residing in the United States. Furthermore, there are allegations against him for stock market manipulation, with the Interim Government’s financial advisor Salehuddin Ahmed suggesting that Shakib should have faced a heavier fine.
