Banks Open on a Limited Scale Today During Eid Holidays

On Wednesday, June 11, during the Eid holidays, some bank branches in Bangladesh will remain open on a limited scale in certain areas. This directive was issued by the Bangladesh Bank under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
According to a recent circular from the Department of Offsite Supervision (DOS) of Bangladesh Bank, selected authorized dealer (AD) branches in Dhaka, Chattogram, and other key commercial areas will operate to facilitate essential banking activities, particularly for the pharmaceutical sector and businesses involved in import-export and critical foreign transactions.
On this holiday, bank offices will remain open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while customer transactions will be available from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The central bank also stated that employees working on the holiday will receive allowances as per regulations.
This decision has been made in the public interest and has been officially communicated to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks operating in the country.
