Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely across Bangladesh over the next several days, according to a forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday, July 3. Assistant meteorologist Afroza Sultana stated that light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds is expected in most areas of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, and in many parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet by 9 AM on Friday, July 4. Some areas may also experience moderate to heavy, and even very heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to drop slightly.

Similar weather patterns are forecast for the 24-hour periods beginning at 9 AM on July 5, 6, and 7, with most parts of all eight divisions—Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet—likely to see light to moderate showers, occasional thunder, and gusty winds. Localized heavy to very heavy rain is also possible. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly cooler, though by July 7, conditions may stabilize somewhat, with temperatures holding steady.

The Meteorological Department also indicated that this pattern of rainfall could persist over the next five days.
