The BNP has filed a complaint with the International Crimes Tribunal against 16 former high-ranking officials, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Law Minister Anisul Huq, and ex-IGP Benazir Ahmed, alleging their involvement in multiple enforced disappearances. On Sunday (July 13), BNP Executive Committee Member and Media Cell Coordinator Salahuddin Khan submitted the complaint to Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam, accompanied by families of the victims.

The complaint accuses the former leaders of involvement in 11 cases of enforced disappearance that reportedly took place between 2019 and the fall of the Awami League government. According to the victims’ families, they were subjected to brutal persecution merely for their affiliation with the BNP during the previous regime. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam assured that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate legal action would follow upon completion of the inquiry.
