Weather Warning Issued for Dhaka and 15 Districts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for Dhaka and 14 other districts, warning of potential thunderstorms and rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour. The alert, valid until 6 p.m. Tuesday (15 July), was issued for internal river ports and highlights the risk of temporary squalls coming from the south or southeast.

 

According to a bulletin signed by meteorologist Md. Omar Faruk, districts under warning include Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jashore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Rain or thundershowers may accompany the gusty winds.

 

In response, the authorities have advised river ports in the affected areas to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

 

A separate forecast from the weather office added that all regions across Bangladesh may experience light to moderate rain with temporary gusts or squalls until the evening. Some areas could also see moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall. The overall wet weather pattern is expected to persist throughout the week.
