Training jet crashes in Uttara, BGB joins rescue operation

A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in the Milestone College area of Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday afternoon (July 21), immediately bursting into flames upon impact. Two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed from the BGB headquarters to assist in rescue and maintain law and order, according to an official SMS statement.
The fire service confirmed that eight firefighting units from Uttara, Tongi, Pallabi, Kurmitola, Mirpur, and Purbachal were engaged in extinguishing the blaze.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the downed aircraft was an F-7 BGI model operated by the Bangladesh Air Force. The only person on board was Flight Lieutenant Tawkir Islam Sagar, who was piloting the jet.
Eyewitnesses from Milestone College stated that the aircraft crashed in the college premises and caught fire instantly. Mizanur Rahman, an official of the college, told media that one student was reportedly killed and several others were injured, though official confirmation is pending.
Meanwhile, multiple videos of the incident have circulated on social media, showing large plumes of smoke, raging flames, and scenes of panic among bystanders.
