Army operation underway in Rangamati hills, gunfire confirmed by ISPR

A military operation is currently underway in the remote hill areas of Baghaichhari, Rangamati, targeting a suspected hideout of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF). According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an exchange of gunfire is ongoing between army personnel and members of the group.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, July 29, the ISPR confirmed that security forces have already recovered weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, from the site during the course of the operation.
The military campaign, aimed at dismantling armed militant infrastructure in the hill tracts, remains active. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
