Ensuring a peaceful national election is now the top priority: Chief Adviser

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has stated that the foremost task of the interim government’s second phase is to ensure the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is conducted in a free, fair, and festive manner.

 

Speaking to reporters on Thursday (August 7) after a meeting of the Advisory Council at the Secretariat, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared this update.

 

According to the press secretary, Dr. Yunus remarked during the meeting that the first phase of the interim government concluded on August 5, and the second phase has now begun.

 

Addressing the advisers, Dr. Yunus emphasized:

“It is now the government’s primary responsibility to ensure that the election is held in a free, neutral, and celebratory environment.”

 

Additionally, the press secretary announced that the Advisory Council has decided to introduce an award named after teacher Meherin Chowdhury. She played a heroic role in saving students during a recent fighter jet crash near Milestone School and College. The award will be presented by the Ministry of Education in recognition of her bravery.

 

Earlier in the morning, the regular meeting of the Advisory Council was held at the Secretariat with Dr. Yunus in the chair. Apart from the advisers, secretaries of relevant ministries also attended the meeting. Several scheduled issues and ministry proposals were discussed in the session.
