Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Friday confirmed that the next national election will take place in February next year, as announced by the Chief Adviser, stressing that there is no possibility of any delay.

“There is no doubt about the February election. The Election Commission has already begun its preparations, and those expressing concerns need not worry,” he told reporters.

Alam made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the July Mass Uprising martyrs’ memorial in the Dhaka Road area of Magura town.

He noted that the government has already set the election schedule. Following the monsoon season, an electoral atmosphere is expected to emerge, creating a festive mood among the people.

“The new Bangladesh has been built through such sacrifices. Once the election timetable is officially announced, candidates will engage with the people, and genuine election enthusiasm will develop, dispelling any doubts,” Alam said.

He also mentioned that the Election Commission is proceeding according to the February timeline, and the government has made all necessary arrangements to ensure a free and fair election.

During his visit, Alam paid tribute to Chhatra Dal leader Mehedi Hasan Rabbi and Haque Al Amin, both martyred during the 2024 Mass Uprising, by laying floral wreaths at their graves.

“I plan to gradually visit the graves of eight more martyrs. Their contributions to building a new Bangladesh are invaluable, and we remain committed to honoring their memory,” he added, paying homage to the heroes of the 2024 July Uprising.
