Rain likely in several regions, says weather office

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rainfall in several parts of the country over the 24-hour period starting from 9:00 AM on Saturday.

According to the Met Office bulletin, light to moderate showers or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds are expected in most areas of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, and in many places of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Some areas in Rangpur and Rajshahi may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The bulletin further mentioned that the land depression over Odisha and nearby regions has weakened into a well-marked low, now situated over Jharkhand and adjoining areas. It is forecast to gradually weaken while moving northeastward, with its associated trough stretching into the North Bay.

The monsoon remains active in northern Bangladesh and moderately active in other regions, while it is moderate over the North Bay.

Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain almost unchanged.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded at 53 mm in Tangail, measured up to 6:00 AM on Saturday.
