On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, the waste removal operations following animal sacrifices were successfully completed, according to Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan. In a Facebook post on Sunday night (June 8), he stated that the cleanliness drive would continue into the third day as well.

He explained that animal sacrifices typically occur over three days of Eid, including the day of Eid and the following two days. Accordingly, sacrifices on the second day also generated waste. Although some people did not follow city corporation guidelines for designated sacrifice locations, waste removal was completed ahead of schedule due to the sincere efforts of the concerned authorities.

Adviser Asif Mahmud further clarified that the media reports referring to uncollected waste were actually related to the second day’s sacrifices, not negligence. Since some people will continue sacrificing animals on the third day as permitted in Islamic practice, the city corporations have kept their waste management operations active to ensure proper cleanliness.
