Asif Nazrul Vows Harsh Punishment in Sohag Murder Case

The government is determined to ensure swift justice in the brutal public killing of businessman Sohag in front of Mitford Hospital in Dhaka, said Legal Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul. In a Facebook post on Saturday morning (July 12), he confirmed that five individuals involved in the horrific incident have already been arrested, and police have launched an intensive investigation. Dr. Nazrul stated that the case will be transferred to a Speedy Trial Tribunal under Section 10 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act 2002 to ensure exemplary punishment for the perpetrators in the shortest possible time. The savage murder, which occurred on July 9 around 6 PM near Gate 3 of Mitford Hospital, involved the victim being first assaulted inside the hospital premises and then dragged outside to be hacked and fatally struck with a large stone. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking outrage among the public.
