The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into alleged vote manipulation during the 2018 parliamentary elections under the ousted Awami League government. Led by Sheikh Hasina, the government faced accusations of rigging the elections by stamping ballots secretly at night and casting fake votes on election day, sidelining opposition parties like the BNP. The election, widely criticized both domestically and internationally, reportedly violated election laws and involved misuse of power.

According to complaints submitted to the ACC, massive irregularities occurred, including tampering with election results to show over 90% voter turnout in some centers. Allegations include financial transactions and influence by high-ranking Awami League leaders to secure parliamentary seats. It is claimed that party leaders at all levels, from divisions to unions, were involved in vote-rigging under the guidance of party general secretary Obaidul Quader. Government officials, including senior law enforcement and election officials, were also accused of facilitating these activities.

The ACC has formed a five-member special team to investigate the allegations. They will review video evidence, reports from domestic and international media, and election results. After completing the investigation, the team will submit a report to the commission, which will decide on legal action against those found guilty.
