Following the mass uprising that led to the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh has launched a probe into her alleged illegal wealth. ACC Deputy Director Masudur Rahman has been assigned to lead the investigation.

According to sources within the ACC, the inquiry team will scrutinize Sheikh Hasina’s declared movable and immovable assets and cross-check them with her income tax records to identify any discrepancies.

Previously, the ACC had opened several inquiries against her, including allegations of plot forgery, money laundering abroad, and embezzlement of project funds. In one such case involving fraudulent allocation of plots in Purbachal, charges were submitted to the court, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued against her.

The ACC is also reportedly preparing to file another case against her involving alleged misappropriation of Tk 227 crore under the guise of airport development.
