Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are arriving in groups to pay tribute and offer prayers at the grave of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Standing beside the grave, they recite prayers, participate in munajat, and lay flowers as a mark of respect. Alongside party leaders and workers, ordinary citizens are also visiting the grave to offer prayers and express their reverence.

From early Friday morning, crowds of BNP supporters began gathering near the grave. In the morning, Khaleda Zia’s family members, including Zaimah Rahman, daughter of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, visited the grave. During their visit, from around 10:00 am to 10:50 am, party activists and the general public were not allowed to enter the area. After the family members left, BNP leaders and workers resumed visiting the grave in large numbers.

After 11:30 am, BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council member Amanullah Aman arrived at the grave. After laying flowers, he offered prayers and munajat. Speaking to the media, he said Khaleda Zia was a steadfast leader and described her as the mother of democracy. He added that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is now moving forward to realize her vision and, under his leadership, the unfinished missions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia will be completed.

BNP leaders and activists continued to arrive at the grave throughout the morning. After 11:00 am, Sanjida Islam Tuli, BNP’s nominated candidate for the Dhaka-14 constituency, visited the site. She paid floral tribute and later offered prayers. She said Khaleda Zia was not only a leader of the BNP but a leader of the entire nation. Referring to the massive turnout and emotional scenes at her funeral, she remarked that such a leader is unlikely to emerge again in Bangladesh.

Leaders and activists from various BNP affiliated organizations, including the Nationalist Textile Engineers Association of Bangladesh (NTEAB), are also visiting the grave in groups to offer floral tributes and prayers.

Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. Her funeral and burial were held on Wednesday. People from all political backgrounds attended her janaza in large numbers. Following the funeral, she was laid to rest beside the grave of her husband, former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan.
