BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to travel to London for medical treatment on Monday. She will depart at 11 AM on a specialized air ambulance equipped with advanced medical facilities. Her medical team, including doctors, nurses, and personal assistants, have completed all necessary preparations. A total of 15 individuals, including her medical team and close associates, will accompany her on the journey.
According to a doctor, the former Prime Minister will initially stay with her son, Tarique Rahman, in London. After a few days, she is expected to travel to the United States for advanced liver treatment at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Arrangements for her treatment have been finalized, and she has secured visas for both the UK and the US.
Party sources confirmed that Khaleda Zia received her renewed machine-readable passport in early August and started the visa application process for the UK in November. The Foreign Ministry has also been notified of the travel plans, and a list of the 15-member entourage has been submitted.
The last time Khaleda Zia visited London was in July 2017 for medical treatment, returning to Bangladesh in October that year despite facing arrest warrants in four cases.
