Following the BNP’s decisive victory in Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary election, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have conveyed their congratulations to the party and its chairman, Tarique Rahman.

According to a report by BBC, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s democratic aspirations and expressed his government’s willingness to work with the new administration to strengthen cooperation in trade, defense, and cultural exchange. He also voiced hope that the evolving political climate in Dhaka would encourage more balanced, independent, and mutually respectful engagement across the region.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated both the BNP and Tarique Rahman on securing victory in the polls, while also extending his greetings to the people of Bangladesh.

In a message shared on X, Sharif praised the significant electoral win and commended the citizens of Bangladesh for successfully carrying out the election. He further expressed his desire to collaborate closely with Bangladesh’s new leadership to reinforce longstanding bilateral ties and to advance shared goals of peace, stability, and development in South Asia and beyond.
