BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that the Awami League has oppressed the people of Bangladesh to maintain its grip on power and has now fled. He emphasized the need for unity to counter the party’s new conspiracies and prevent any divisions within the opposition. Speaking at a rally organized by the BNP’s Boda Upazila chapter in Sakwa High School grounds, Panchagarh, on Sunday, he warned his party members to stay vigilant. He remarked that discussions about elections are not always well-received, and though many are calling for reforms, BNP has long advocated for them. He reiterated the party’s demand for the restoration of voting rights and a fair election.

Fakhrul called for collective action to protect the nation from division, claiming that fallen autocrats are still active and warned that the opposition must remain united to resist their conspiracies. He accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of fleeing the country with her family after facing a popular uprising. Fakhrul criticized the Awami League, labeling it as a fascist party that had unlawfully clung to power through repression for over 15 years. He also mentioned that students and youth have paved the way for a democratic Bangladesh and warned against conspiracies, including a misleading campaign claiming persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, which he believes is an attempt to mislead and endanger the country.
