Historic Meeting Between EU Ambassadors and Chief Adviser on December 9

The European Union (EU) member states’ 27 ambassadors, along with the EU mission chief in Dhaka, are set to meet Chief Adviser Dr. Professor Muhammad Yunus on December 9.

This information was shared by Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, the Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a weekly briefing on Thursday.

In response to a query, Alam mentioned that discussions would cover the Rohingya crisis, the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) Plus facilities for Bangladesh after its LDC graduation, and the partnership and cooperation agreement between the EU and Bangladesh. Additionally, avenues for exploring new areas of collaboration will be examined.

According to ministry sources, this is the first time all 27 EU ambassadors will jointly engage in discussions with the Bangladesh government.

Currently, ambassadors from 20 EU countries are stationed in New Delhi, while seven are based in Dhaka.
