Engro plans long-term investments in Bangladesh

Abdul Samad Dawood, CEO of Pakistan’s Engro Holdings, has expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh during a meeting with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the interim government, held on Thursday (April 10) at the State Guest House Jamuna.
Dawood praised the investment summit, emphasizing the need for sustainable and future-oriented partnerships. He stated that Engro is looking to engage in long-term projects that can bring meaningful change to people’s lives. He described the summit as heartfelt, welcoming, and goal-oriented, noting his admiration for seeing so many leading companies gathered under one roof.
During the meeting, the Engro CEO highlighted specific interest in Bangladesh’s telecommunications and energy sectors, expressing a desire to expand the company’s operations in the country.
In response, Dr. Yunus acknowledged the opportunities for collaboration across various sectors and invited Dawood to return, saying Bangladesh has much to offer—not just to investors, but to the world.
Present during the meeting were Yunus’s Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, SDG Chief Coordinator Lamia Morshed, and Chief Secretary Sirajuddin Mia.
