Interim government’s Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus stated that no new economic path can be unlocked for Bangladesh without the inclusion of Chattogram Port. Speaking during his inspection of the port on Wednesday morning (May 14), he emphasized that although he had previously written about changes to the port, this time he had the opportunity to take action and has begun working from day one to transform it into a truly functional port.
Calling Chattogram Port the economic lifeline of the country, Dr. Yunus stressed its strategic importance and noted that sidelining the port would be detrimental to Bangladesh’s future economic development. He also suggested involving foreign stakeholders to improve the port’s operational capacity.
This marked his first visit to Chattogram since assuming office. He arrived around 9:15 AM and is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of Chittagong University and lay the foundation stone of the Kalurghat Bridge later in the day.
