BUET’s ‘Shadhinota Hall’ and DU’s Bangabandhu Hall renamed as per students’ decision

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has renamed the ‘Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall’ to ‘Shadhinota Hall.’ This decision was made during the 549th syndicate meeting on Wednesday and was officially announced in an office order signed by Registrar Professor N M Golam Zakaria on Thursday.
Meanwhile, BUET students have renamed the central library as ‘Shaheed Abrar Fahad Library’ and removed Sheikh Hasina’s name from the nameplate of the ECE building.
At Dhaka University, students broke the plaque of ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall’ and replaced it with a banner reading ‘National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall.’ Additionally, they erased Sheikh Hasina’s name from the nameplates of Amar Ekushey Hall and Bijoy Ekattor Hall.
