In protest against Israel’s brutal assault on Palestinians, a mass gathering titled “March for Gaza” is being held under the banner of the “Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh” at Dhaka’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan. Although the main program is scheduled to begin at 3 PM on Saturday, April 12, processions have been arriving at the venue since morning—some from Shahbagh, others from Doel Square and Nilkhet. By 10:30 AM, thousands from across the country had already gathered, filling more than half of the grounds, many waving Bangladeshi and Palestinian flags and holding placards with slogans.
This unique rally aims to raise global awareness against the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and to evoke humanitarian solidarity. The program is expected to continue until Maghrib prayers. Organizers state that their goal is to inspire global support for the innocent people of Palestine, anticipating participation in the hundreds of thousands.
Security has been significantly heightened in the capital with coordination between the military and law enforcement agencies. Political leaders visited the venue on Friday, and organizers have issued detailed guidelines to ensure the event’s success.
