To improve connectivity between Dhaka and Gazipur, two pairs of commuter trains have been introduced on the Dhaka-Joydebpur-Dhaka route. The new train service was inaugurated on Sunday morning at the Joydebpur Railway Station by Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy, Mineral Resources, Road Transport, and Railways. During the inauguration, the adviser mentioned plans to expand commuter train services on several other routes, including Dhaka-Narsingdi, starting March 26.
The new commuter trains will stop at several key stations, including Dhaka Airport, Tejgaon, Banani, Tongi, and Dhirashram. As per the schedule, the Turag Commuter will depart Dhaka at 5:00 AM and reach Joydebpur by 6:00 AM, stopping at Airport and Tongi stations. At the launch ceremony, senior railway officials, including the Rail Secretary and the District Commissioner of Gazipur, were present. Last Thursday, a press release from Bangladesh Railway’s Public Relations Director, Md. Nahid Hasan Khan, announced plans for launching four pairs of trains on the Dhaka-Gazipur route.
