A two-day national dialogue focused on “Unity, Reform, and Elections” is set to begin today (Friday, December 27) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Dhaka, starting at 9:30 AM. Organized by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies (FBS), the event will continue until Saturday, December 28. The dialogue will feature prominent figures, including interim government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who will join virtually, and distinguished speakers such as Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque, economist Dr. Mushtaq Husain Khan, and Constitution Reform Commission Chair Dr. Ali Riaz, who will deliver the closing remarks.
The event will host seven advisors from the interim government, representatives from 20 political parties, members of civil society, and leaders from various sectors. Notably, the ruling Awami League and its allies have not been invited. Discussions will focus on justice, reform, security, and elections across six sessions, held daily from 9:30 AM to evening.
At a press briefing on Thursday, FBS organizers stated that the dialogue aims to address the transitional phase following the July uprising, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of martyrs. The event will be inaugurated by family members of those injured or killed in the uprising. Speakers at the briefing included FBS Convener Monir Haidar, journalist Faruk Wasif, and Associate Professor Towfique Jowarddar from the National University of Singapore.
