Gas Price in Industrial Sector Rises by 33%

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a 33 percent increase in gas prices for the industrial sector. At a press conference held this afternoon (Sunday, April 13), BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed stated that the gas tariff for industrial consumers has been raised from Tk 30 to Tk 40 per cubic meter. The price for captive power generation has also gone up from Tk 30.50 to Tk 42. Additionally, industries using more gas than their approved load will now be billed at the new rate of Tk 40 instead of Tk 30. These revised rates will take effect from the current billing cycle of April. Other BERC members, including Mizanur Rahman, Syeda Sultana Razia, Abdur Razzak, and Shahid Sarwar, were also present at the briefing.
