Gold Price Hits Peak in Bangladesh Starting Today

he Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced yet another increase in gold prices, effective Sunday, April 20. According to their latest notice issued Saturday evening, the price of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,624 per bhori (11.664 grams), reaching an all-time high of Tk 167,833 per bhori — the highest in the country’s history. Prices for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional method gold now stand at Tk 160,205, Tk 137,309, and Tk 113,491 per bhori respectively. While gold prices continue to surge, the rate of silver remains unchanged, with 22-carat silver priced at Tk 2,578 per bhori. BAJUS noted that the new rates include a mandatory 5% VAT and a minimum 6% wage as per their standard, though design and quality variations may lead to different pricing. This marks the 23rd price adjustment of 2025, with gold prices increased 17 times and reduced only 6 times so far. In comparison, 2024 saw 62 adjustments in total.
