JAKSU Election Results: Who Won Which Post and How Many Votes They Received

In the recent Jagannath University (JnU) central student council (JACSU) and hall council elections, the panel backed by Islami Chhatra Shibir, called “Adamya Jobian Oikko,” achieved a sweeping victory.
Out of the 21 student council positions—including Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS), Assistant General Secretary (AGS), eight secretaries, and five members—the panel won 16 seats.
Meanwhile, the opposition coalition panel, “Oikko Boddho Nirbhik Jobian,” comprising Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, and independent students, secured four positions—three secretaries and one member seat.
The official results were announced at 1 a.m. on Wednesday by JACSU’s Chief Returning Officer, Professor Mostofa Hasan. This election marked the first-ever JACSU vote in the university’s 21-year history, with Islami Chhatra Shibir dominating most central and hall council posts.
Key positions and winners:

VP: Riazul Islam (Adamya Jobian Oikko) – 5,558 votes; closest rival AKM Rakib (Oikko Boddho Nirbhik Jobian) – 4,688 votes. Riazul is a former JnU Shibir president and current law postgraduate student.

GS: Abdul Alim Arif – 5,475 votes; rival Khadijatul Kubra – 2,023 votes. Arif is also a Shibir leader and law postgraduate student.

AGS: Masud Rana – 5,020 votes; rival Atikul Islam Tanzil – 4,022 votes. Masud is affiliated with United Peoples Bangladesh and a physics postgraduate student.

An independent candidate, Zahid Hasan, won one executive member seat with 3,124 votes.
Voting took place on Tuesday, and the initial count using OMR machines began at 6 p.m. However, discrepancies between the two machines caused a temporary halt. After consultation with candidates and university officials, the first 278 ballots were counted manually before being verified by the machines. Technical issues caused further delays, and final results were declared in the early hours of Wednesday.
