July 36 marks a landmark popular uprising in Bangladesh’s history. During the quota reform movement, the then Awami League government brutally suppressed the peaceful demands of students. Thousands of innocent people were killed, some were shot from helicopters, and many were forced to flee to India.

 

On November 17, the International Crimes Tribunal delivered justice for these atrocities. Mamun confessed his crimes and will cooperate with the police as an approver to help uncover all details. At the same time, the tribunal sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death, marking a historic moment in Bangladesh’s history. Through this process, the truth has been revealed, and accountability for past brutality and mass killings has been ensured.
