Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan greeted crowds of fans outside his Mumbai residence under tight security on Sunday, maintaining his weekly tradition despite a recent bomb threat that prompted a police investigation.

On October 25, the 83-year-old actor waved to fans gathered outside his Jalsa residence in Juhu, Mumbai. His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, stood beside him throughout the appearance, while police maintained security around the property and fans waited behind barricades for a glimpse of the star.

The appearance came two days after Mumbai Police received an email containing a bomb threat reportedly targeting Bachchan. The message was sent to a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex area, according to reports.

Police have launched an investigation into the threat. However, it was not immediately clear whether the email specifically mentioned Jalsa, Bachchan’s residence in Juhu, or his other property, Prateeksha. Authorities were awaiting further information as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Bachchan has also updated fans about his health, saying he needs additional rest to recover fully.

In a post on his Tumblr blog last Friday, the actor wrote, “Need more rest.”

Bachchan regularly shares updates and personal reflections with his followers through his blog and social media accounts. He had previously said that doctors advised him to take a break from his regular online activities.

The veteran actor currently hosts the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, which remains one of his best-known television projects.

His most recent big-screen appearance was in the 2024 Tamil film Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth.

Despite the recent security scare and his health-related update, Bachchan’s weekly greeting continues to draw large crowds to Jalsa, where fans gather every Sunday to see the legendary Bollywood star.
