Syria’s PM Ready for Cooperation with Elected Leadership

Amid attacks from rebel forces, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has fled the capital, Damascus, aboard a private jet. Following his departure, Prime Minister Mohammad al-Jalali stated that he is ready to cooperate with any leadership elected by the people. He emphasized that he has no plans to leave his position and will continue working to keep government institutions functional.
Prime Minister al-Jalali further expressed his vision for Syria as a nation that could foster good relations with its neighbors and the world, depending on the leadership chosen by the Syrian people. He reiterated his readiness to offer support and any possible proposals for cooperation, while also calling on citizens to protect government property.
Meanwhile, the leader of the rebel faction confirmed that until an official transfer of power occurs, government institutions will remain under the control of the Prime Minister. Rebel groups also declared that their forces had begun entering the capital and announced the end of the era of torture in the Sednaya prison, where all prisoners were freed.
