Indian Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi recently made headlines by carrying a bag with “Palestine” written on it into the Lok Sabha, drawing criticism from the BJP. The very next day, she responded by carrying another bag labeled “Bangladesh,” sending a message of solidarity with minorities in neighboring countries while addressing the backlash.
According to The Times of India, Priyanka, a new Member of Parliament from Wayanad, has already garnered attention for her bold stances. She was sworn in holding the Constitution and used her platform to criticize the BJP’s ideology and governance during a 40-minute speech. Priyanka highlighted the government’s disregard for parliamentary processes, pointing out the Prime Minister’s rare appearances in the chamber. She accused the BJP of sidelining the Constitution in favor of RSS principles, emphasizing that the Constitution remains a protective shield for all citizens.
Beyond Parliament, Priyanka has been an active leader, participating in protests and drawing media attention with symbolic gestures. Her “Palestine” bag sparked criticism from BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who boasted about sending thousands of Indian workers to Israel for employment. Priyanka rebutted his claims, labeling the practice shameful rather than praiseworthy. She accused the state government of failing to provide jobs locally and criticized the exploitation and unsafe conditions faced by Indian workers in Israel.
In a scathing response, Priyanka argued that sending the nation’s youth to conflict zones for work is not an achievement but a cause for embarrassment. Her symbolic gestures and sharp rhetoric have positioned her as a vocal opponent of BJP policies both inside and outside Parliament.
