A Dhaka court has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police to conduct a further investigation into a fraud, breach of trust and threat case filed against actress Tanzin Tisha over an alleged Tk 75,000 saree dispute.
The order was issued on Sunday by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam after accepting a petition from the complainant challenging an earlier investigation report.
Shubhra Sinha Rony, a lawyer representing the complainant, confirmed the development. He said the court heard the complainant’s objection to the final report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and recorded witness statements before directing the CID to investigate the case further.
The CID has been instructed to submit its report by December 31.
What Is the Dispute About?
Fashion designer Ayeshah Anum Fayazah Sanaya Chowdhury filed the case against Tisha at a Dhaka court on November 27, 2025. The court initially took cognisance of the complaint and directed the PBI to investigate.
According to the complaint, Sanaya Chowdhury operates a fashion house and studio on Road 127 in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The complaint alleges that Tisha took a saree worth Tk 75,000 from the designer on December 13, 2024, to wear at an event. The saree was supposed to be returned the following day after the event, but it was allegedly not returned.
Sanaya reportedly sent Tisha a message through Facebook Messenger on December 15, 2024, asking for the saree back. The complainant alleged that the request led to verbal abuse and threats to kill her.
She further claimed that she encountered Tisha at two award ceremonies on March 13 and March 18, 2025, and asked for the saree to be returned on both occasions. According to the complaint, it was not returned.
Further Allegations and Earlier Investigation
Sanaya also alleged that Tisha later called her through Messenger and threatened to file a case against her and publicly humiliate her. She subsequently filed a general diary with Gulshan Police Station on November 12.
The PBI submitted its final report to the court on May 25, recommending that Tisha be discharged from the case after finding no evidence to substantiate the allegations, according to the report.
The complainant challenged that conclusion, prompting the court to order a further investigation by the CID.
The allegations against Tisha remain allegations, and the court’s latest order directs further investigation rather than establishing guilt.
