A Dhaka court has issued a summons directing actress Tanjin Tisha to appear before it in a case accusing her of threatening a fashion designer to withdraw a separate lawsuit involving an alleged Tk 75,000 saree dispute.

The case was filed on Monday afternoon before the court of Dhaka Executive Magistrate Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam by fashion designer Sanaya Anam Wafiqah Chowdhury, editor of Velvet-Youth magazine.

After recording the complainant’s statement, the court directed Tisha to appear on November 23 and explain why action should not be taken against her.

According to the complaint, Chowdhury filed a case against the actress at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on November 27, 2025, accusing her of fraud and misappropriation of money under Sections 420 and 406 of the Penal Code.

The complainant alleged that following the filing of the case, Tisha threatened her on several occasions and warned that she would face harm unless she withdrew the lawsuit.

The complaint further alleges that on November 7, 2025, the actress threatened Chowdhury over the phone, saying, “If I come after you, you won’t survive.” Tisha also allegedly referred to arranging a meeting involving the Detective Branch of police, according to the complaint.

Chowdhury claimed that after the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the original case, the investigating officer submitted a biased report.

On October 25, 2026, she filed a naraji petition challenging the investigation report. The court accepted the petition and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a further investigation into the original case.

The complainant also alleged that after the investigation report was published in various media outlets, the accused became angry and unidentified individuals subsequently threatened her to force her to withdraw the case.

According to the complaint, she was warned that she would not be allowed to remain in Bangladesh if she refused to withdraw the lawsuit.

Chowdhury said she felt unsafe and approached a nearby police station to file a case over the alleged threats. However, she was advised to seek legal remedy through the court, the complaint stated.

The allegations have yet to be established in court.
