Burning of Six Bodies: Charge Hearing Postponed

The International Crimes Tribunal’s Investigation Agency has identified the involvement of 16 individuals in the case related to the killing and subsequent burning of six bodies in Ashulia during the July-August uprising. The prosecution informed the tribunal on Tuesday (June 24) that they had received the investigation report on June 19, which confirmed the connection of these 16 people to the incident. Upon the prosecution’s request for additional time to formally submit charges, the tribunal set July 2 as the next hearing date.

 

On the same day, seven individuals, including detained police officers Abdullah Hil Kafi and Shahidul Islam, were presented before the tribunal in connection with this case. Meanwhile, the tribunal appointed defense lawyers for Sheikh Hasina, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and Asaduzzaman Kamal in the case concerning the July-August mass killings, with a hearing on charge formation scheduled for July 1. In a separate enforced disappearance case involving Sheikh Hasina, former military officer Ziaul Ahsan, and five others, the tribunal has set August 24 for the submission of the investigation report.
