During a press briefing organized by the Interim Government’s Press Wing, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder stated that the preliminary report from the high-level investigation committee regarding the devastating Secretariat fire would be submitted to the Chief Adviser on Monday, December 30. The committee may also send some evidence abroad for further examination if deemed necessary.

Speaking outside the Jamuna State Guesthouse on Sunday, December 29, Azad Mazumder confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. The committee has collected necessary evidence, some of which have already undergone testing in the country. However, additional testing overseas might be considered for certain items.

The fire broke out late Wednesday, December 25, in Building 7 of the Secretariat. The blaze was reported at 1:52 AM, prompting 19 firefighting units to respond. It took until 11:45 AM on Thursday, December 26, to fully extinguish the flames. The fire damaged four floors—6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th—with the most extensive damage occurring on the 8th and 9th floors, where most documents were destroyed.

These floors housed offices for several key ministries, including the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
