Allegations have been raised that several government officials participated in election campaigning in Pabna-3 ahead of the 2026 National Parliamentary Election, in violation of election laws.

According to a written complaint submitted to the Election Commission, a number of officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), under the Ministry of Agriculture, were seen taking part in electioneering activities on January 23 at around 11:00 am in KataKhali Bazar of Chatmohar upazila, Pabna. The officials allegedly joined campaign activities in support of candidate agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin.

The complaint states that the officials were directly involved in public outreach and leaflet distribution alongside the candidate. Such participation by government officials is prohibited under the National Parliamentary Election Ordinance 2026.

The officials named in the complaint include DAE Deputy Director (Horticulture) Md Nur-e-Alam Siddique, Deputy Director (Administration) Md Munsurul Hasan, Additional Deputy Directors Boni Amin Khan, Sabbir Ahmed, and Md Mujibur Rahman from the Plant Quarantine Wing, as well as Ishwardi Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Abdul Monir.

The complainant, Md Mujibur Rahman, claims that video footage and photographs showing the officials distributing leaflets and engaging in campaign activities have been submitted as evidence to the Election Commission.

The Election Commission has been requested to investigate the allegations and take legal action if violations of election rules are confirmed.

Attempts to obtain comments from the accused officials were unsuccessful. An Election Commission official said the complaint would be reviewed and appropriate action would be taken in accordance with election laws if the allegations are found to be true.
