Bangladesh SSC Pass Rate Falls in 2026 as GPA-5 Recipients Decline

Bangladesh on Monday published the results of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, with both the overall pass rate and the number of top-performing students declining compared with the previous year.
Results were released simultaneously across the country at 10:00 a.m. through educational institutions and online platforms.
According to official figures, the average pass rate across the country’s nine general education boards stood at 64.05%, down from 68.04% in 2025. The latest results mark a decrease of 3.99 percentage points from the previous year.
The number of students achieving the highest GPA-5 grade also fell. A total of 106,009 candidates earned GPA-5 under the nine general education boards, compared with 125,018 students last year.
When results from all 11 education boards — including the nine general boards, the Madrasa Education Board and the Technical Education Board — are combined, the overall pass rate stands at 62.25%.
Across the 11 boards, 116,676 students secured GPA-5, according to the published results.
The results were formally unveiled during a ceremony at the Ministry of Education, where Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon inaugurated the publication process.
The SSC examination is one of Bangladesh’s largest public examinations and serves as a key milestone for students seeking admission to higher secondary institutions.
