Ingenious Smuggling Tactics: Snake Charmers in the Drug Trade

Illegal drug shipments are being smuggled into Bangladesh through various borders, with yaba pills traveling from Teknaf to Savar’s Bedey settlements hidden in snake boxes. Meanwhile, heroin, phensedyl, cannabis, and other narcotics are entering the country through border points in Haluaghat, Mymensingh, and Patgram, Lalmonirhat. To evade law enforcement, a group of snake charmers has devised ingenious methods to transport and distribute these drugs nationwide. Notably, two Bedey settlements in Comilla are being used as transit hubs. This operation involves nine influential individuals from Savar’s Bedey community, each amassing wealth worth several crores through these illicit activities.
