Women’s Reform Report Handed Over to Dr. Yunus

The Women’s Reform Commission has officially submitted its report to Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus. The submission took place on Saturday afternoon, April 19, at the state guesthouse Jamuna, as confirmed by Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder.

 

Formed in November of last year, the commission was led by Shirin Parveen Huq and comprised 10 members. The other members included Mahin Sultan, Senior Fellow at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development; Sara Hossain, honorary Executive Director of the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST); Fauzia Karim Firoze, President of the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association; Kalpana Akter, President of the Bangladesh Garments and Industrial Workers Federation; Dr. Halida Hanum Akter, a women’s health expert; Sumaiya Islam, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Women Workers’ Center; Nirupa Dewan, former member of the National Human Rights Commission; Ferdousi Sultana, former Senior Social Development Advisor at the Asian Development Bank; and student representative Nishita Zaman Niha.
