To honor Bangladesh’s 53rd Victory Day and pay tribute to the country’s freedom fighters, student pilot Fahim Chowdhury drew a map of Bangladesh in the sky over New York using his aircraft. According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware, Fahim took off from Republic Airport in New York at 11:16 PM on Saturday and landed at 1:54 AM, completing the map in 2 hours and 38 minutes with a Cessna-172 aircraft.

A graduate of Bangladesh’s Galaxy Flying Academy with a private pilot license, Fahim is currently training in the United States for a commercial pilot license. Explaining his inspiration, Fahim shared that he wanted to commemorate Bangladesh’s 53 years of independence with something special. After seeing creative designs made using flight radars, he decided to create Bangladesh’s map as a symbol of respect for the nation’s liberation history and freedom fighters.

Fahim described the experience as deeply emotional, emphasizing that the sacrifices and struggles of Bangladesh’s freedom fighters must never be forgotten. He expressed his pride in the country’s hard-fought independence and hoped that the map would serve as a tribute to the martyrs who made that freedom possible. Fahim’s friend, Asad Abdullah, assisted him throughout the process, further supporting the initiative that symbolized Fahim’s love and respect for his country.
