Minister Inspects Bandarban Border Road Project

A high-level delegation led by the Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways Division, Sheikh Robiul Alam, visited the ongoing border road construction works in the remote Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier areas of Bandarban Hill District on Tuesday (April 21). The delegation inspected the progress of the Bogalake–Tri-Nation Point Link Road and the Tri-Nation Point–Bonggupara Border Road, being implemented under Phase-2 of the Border Road Construction Project by the Bangladesh Army’s 34 Engineer Construction Brigade.
The Honorable State Minister of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Mr. Habibur Rashid, MP, along with other senior officials, was also present during the visit. During the inspection, the delegation reviewed the overall progress of the project, construction quality, prospects for improved connectivity, and the broader infrastructure development opportunities in the border region.
Officials expressed optimism that the successful completion of the border road project would significantly improve transportation facilities in the hilly and remote areas, strengthen border security, and create new opportunities for the socio-economic development of local communities.
Following the inspection, the delegation held discussions with representatives of various ethnic minority communities in Bandarban. They listened attentively to the concerns, needs, and expectations of the local residents. Several issues were resolved immediately on-site, while assurances were given that the remaining matters would be addressed on a priority basis as quickly as possible.
Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam stated that the government remains committed to the development of border regions and the improvement of people’s living standards. He emphasized that the government is determined to expedite ongoing projects aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure, ensuring security, and promoting the welfare of people living in remote areas.
Local residents welcomed the visit of the delegation and expressed their gratitude to the government for undertaking such development initiatives.
