The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Members of Parliament will be held at 10:00am next Tuesday. Later in the day, at 4:00pm, members of the new cabinet will take their oath of office. Foreign ministers from SAARC member states have been invited to attend the ceremony.

Outgoing Law Adviser Asif Nazrul shared this information with reporters on Sunday at the Secretariat. Earlier in the morning, advisers held their final meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office.

He said the meeting was a farewell session and no major decisions were made. The advisers exchanged views about their work and experiences and were briefed about the upcoming oath ceremonies.

According to the Law Adviser, the MPs will take oath at 10:00am, most likely administered by the Chief Election Commissioner. The BNP has indicated that it plans to elect its parliamentary party leader around 11:30am or noon on the same day.

The cabinet oath ceremony is scheduled for 4:00pm at the South Plaza of Parliament and is expected to be administered by the President, he added.

He also mentioned that holding the ceremony at the South Plaza was proposed by the BNP.

Regarding invitations, the Law Adviser said the Cabinet Division is handling the matter and that invitations will be sent according to established protocol.

Responding to a question about whether India’s Prime Minister has been invited, he said he was not aware of any such invitation. He only learned that the foreign ministers of SAARC countries have so far been contacted by the Foreign Ministry, and he has no information about invitations to any prime ministers.
